I just got a new book called 1000 Steampunk Creations that is truly "eye candy" for those of us who love the industrial vibe! There are chapters on hats and accessories, home decor, fashion, sculptures and more! This piece could inspire you to make something from old hardware and ICE Resin. The bee looks like a transparency....this piece is by Billie Robson.
Karen Burns who is a student and friend from California made this one below, love the "frozen charlotte"...that's why we carry them on Objects and Elements!
Karen did this one also, it has our "press to reset" piece and also some watch parts which are always popular!
Kristin Hubick did the cute pendants below and some other great ones that are in the book..
and I always love a lot of chains tangled so I was drawn to this piece by Amanda Scrivener...
Look around for some vintage items, go through your stash and stretch your imagination to find ways to use them! If you like some of these you will love the book, it's full of industrial age inspiration!
A vintage look place that I love is Allsaints Spitalfields store from the UK, loved the one in London and now they have one in Seattle. The whole store is black and gray and the hardware is all old factory from Europe. The shoes are great and the jewelry has some cool vibes but handmade is always better!! The store in Seattle is on a corner downtown and the windows are completely filled with old black sewing machines for three stories--beautiful!
I also LOVE everything thing they have at Restoration Hardware http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/category/products.jsp?categoryId=cat1623016
I don't know why industrial is so appealing to so many of us, but I think part of it is the need to get away from all the machined, plastic "perfect" things surrounding us. I love all things handmade, rustic and repurposed how about you?
